Barulaganyi

Never lose an export sale over a missing record.

Barulaganyi keeps your cattle records EU-export ready — so when the buyer calls, your herd is ready to go.

Built for Botswana cattle farmers. Made for Africa.

The paperwork costs more than the cattle.

Botswana beef reaches the European Union because our farmers meet some of the strictest traceability standards in the world. Ear tags within three months. BAITS registration within fourteen days. Movement permits. Treatment records. Residency periods. Welfare attestations.

Miss one date, lose one form, and a healthy animal that should earn export prices gets sold at local rates instead.

The rules aren't the problem. Keeping track of them is.

Your herd's compliance, at a glance.

  • Know where you stand

Every animal gets an honest readiness score against the actual BMC and EU requirements. Not a guess — a checklist showing exactly what's complete and what's missing.

  • Never miss a deadline

Tagging windows. BAITS registration. Vaccination boosters. Certificate expiry. Barulaganyi tells you what's due before it's late.

  • The whole life of the animal

From birth or purchase, through every movement between your farms, to sale or slaughter. One record, complete, ready when an inspector asks.

  • Honest about what you can't control

Zone status. National export suspensions. Abattoir approvals. Barulaganyi shows you the full picture — including when the border is closed — so you're never blindsided.

Three steps. That's it.

  1. Register your farm

Your holding, your zone, your details. Once.

  2. Add your cattle

Tag numbers, dates, treatments, movements. As they happen, or catch up on what you have.

  3. See your readiness

Barulaganyi scores every animal and tells you exactly what to fix.

We didn't guess. We read the regulations.

Barulaganyi's compliance engine is built against the real requirements — not a general idea of what "good records" means:

  • BMC Supplier Undertaking Agreement (v001/2022) — the eight steps every EU-supplying holding must meet
  • EU Regulation 2021/404 — approved third-country zones and export eligibility
  • EU Regulation 2020/692 — the 40-day holding and 3-month territory residency rules
  • Directive 96/22/EC — prohibited hormonal substances and beta-agonists
  • BAITS — Botswana's national animal identification and traceability system

Built for the farmer, not the office.

  • Cattle farmers supplying, or wanting to supply, BMC
  • Holdings working toward Market Compliance certification
  • Farmers managing cattle across more than one holding
  • Anyone tired of keeping export records in a paper book

Starting at home. Built to travel.

Botswana is one of a handful of African countries with EU beef export access — earned through decades of investment in traceability and disease control. That's where we start, and that's who we build for first.

The European Union applies the same framework to every exporting country. Namibia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Eswatini — different national systems, identical underlying requirements.

Barulaganyi is built so the compliance rules are configuration, not code. When we expand, the engine comes with us.

What's coming next.

  • Coming soon

    Automatic movement logging

A tag reader at your farm entrance logs cattle in and out automatically. Know when the herd left, when they came back, and if anything's missing at nightfall — without writing a thing down.

  • Coming 2027

    Live GPS tracking

See where your cattle are in real time, anywhere on the holding. Get alerted the moment an animal strays.

Questions

Do I need internet on the farm?

You'll need a connection to sync your records, but you don't need to be online constantly. Update when you have signal.

Do I need an email address?

No. You can register and log in with just your mobile number.

What does it cost?

Nothing right now. We'll be upfront about pricing well before that changes.

Is my information private?

Your records are yours. Each farmer sees only their own cattle — no other farmer, and no one else, can see your herd.

Botswana's EU exports are currently suspended. Why use this now?

Suspensions lift. When they do, the farmers with complete records will be first to sell. Building the record now means being ready then — and the same records serve BMC and local market compliance in the meantime.

Can I use it for cattle I'm not exporting?

Yes. Track your whole herd. Barulaganyi tells you which animals meet export standards and which don't — that's useful either way.
